Learning with Chantelle
How we’ll work together
“I don't want you to memorize the Krebs cycle.”
I want you to redraw it on a napkin and tell me where every carbon goes. Biology is a story about energy and information moving through a body, and once you can trace that flow, answers stop being things you recall and become things you can rebuild from scratch. Confusion is just a diagram you haven't finished yet.
A little background
Chantelle’s story
Chantelle grew up on the Charleston peninsula and spent middle-school summers at the Fort Johnson marine lab, learning to tell a mud snail from a periwinkle before she could parallel park. She failed her first organic chemistry exam at Spelman with a 58, nearly switched majors, then spent a semester rebuilding the whole course into hand-drawn metabolic maps and finished with an A-minus. Those maps became her teaching method. She is open-water certified and still logs quarterly reef-survey dives for a coastal estuary lab, where she counts oyster recruits the same way she once counted carbons through glycolysis: one labeled arrow at a time.
What students say
1,064 ratings“I started AP Bio around a 72 and got a 5 on the exam. Chantelle made me redraw cellular respiration from a blank whiteboard every session until I could do it in under two minutes, no notes. Dihybrid crosses finally clicked the day she drew one out like a family tree instead of a grid.”
“Anjali's first unit test came back at 56 and we were genuinely worried. Two months later she pulled a 94 on the cumulative final. The strange part is she now wants to study marine science and talks about oyster reefs at dinner. I did not see that coming from a kid who hated science in September.”
“Pre-med here. I bombed the photosynthesis section of my intro bio midterm with a 61. Chantelle had me sketch the light reactions as an assembly line, and I scored a 91 on the next exam. She finds the exact step where your logic breaks instead of re-teaching the whole chapter, which is why nine sessions was enough.”
Before your first session
How does Chantelle run a Biology session?
Chantelle adapts each Biology session to the student's current assignment, exam, or goal.
Can this nerd remember past sessions?
Yes. Nerdy can save important notes, goals, preferences, and breakthroughs so future sessions can pick up with more context.
Can I get practice tests and study materials?
Yes. The session toolbox can generate practice tests, flashcards, diagrams, and study notes when they fit the lesson.
